Camila Lim-Hing is a multi-media artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Camila’s work draws inspiration from their multicultural background and the vivid memories of her childhood in Jamaica and South Florida. Her Chinese and Hispanic heritage infuse her creations with a blend of cultural influences that enrich her artistic vision.

In their work, Camila weaves objects and motifs from their past, placing them as permanent fixtures to lifelike human heads, often resembling her own with east Asian features and baby hairs that never grow away. She creates a connection between her roots and the present using clay to pay homage to the people, places, and experiences that have shaped her life. From friends and lovers, their art reflects the emotional connections she has forged over the years, with each piece resembling a facet of her own identity. Through her work, she explores the intricate web of relationships, dreams, and memories that define who she is.

Though not direct self-portraits, Camila's sculptures are a reflection of herself.  They are a testament to her multicultural heritage, her dreams, and her connections with others. With each creation, she invites the viewer to step into her world, to share in the beauty of her memories and the richness of her experiences.

They have been doing ceramics since 2014, partaking in both hand building and wheel throwing, integrating functionality, sculpture, and painting. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in Anthropology with a minor in Studio Art in 2020.
